The sky
on 31 May 1954.
The sign of each planet that day, calculated from astronomical ephemerides (Paris time). When a planet changes sign during the day, the exact time is given: that’s where the birth time decides.
If this is your birth date
What you are trying to become
You hold three conversations in your head and you would rather not drop any of them. Words are how you think. You get bored before other people do, and it shows.
Gemini is Castor and Pollux: one mortal, the other not, inseparable all the same. Mercury, the fastest planet around the Sun, rules this sign.
People say you scatter yourself. You call it keeping the doors open.
Why?
What you are trying to become, and what you need to be recognised for. In Gemini, it runs through words and several threads at once. You get bored before other people do, and it shows.
What settles you
Your birth time settles it.
Why?
What settles you and what puts you on alert, before any conscious decision.
What people see first
It takes your birth time and city.
Why?
The first thing people register about you, before they know you.
What draws you
What draws you is someone you can put your bag down with. You feed people, you remember small kindnesses, and you give before being asked.
Cancer begins at the June solstice, the day the Sun stops and turns back. The Moon rules this sign.
You love the way people protect, and you take it badly when that isn’t wanted.
Why?
What draws you in and what you offer — in love as in taste. In Cancer, it goes through who is present first. You protect before you explain, and you remember everything.
What gets you moving
You know how to wait for your moment. You aim far, you hold an effort with no witness, and your patience frightens people more than an outburst.
Capricorn begins at the December solstice, the day the Sun turns back. Its symbol is a sea goat: half mountain, half ocean. Saturn rules it.
Mars is in exaltation in this sign: your strength is discipline.
Why?
What you go after, and how you fight when you meet resistance. In Capricorn, it gets built and proven. You aim far, demand a lot of yourself, and give yourself credit late. Received as a guest of honour: amplified, sometimes past reason. A strength to dose, not to prove. Retrograde at your birth: seen from Earth, the planet was moving backwards. What it governs turns inward first, and shows later than it does in other people.
How you think
You think with your memory. A smell, a sentence from ten years ago, and it all comes back. You listen to the tone as much as the words.
You retain what you were told, and above all how you were told it.
Why?
How you think and speak — the pace, the level of detail, what you keep to yourself. In Cancer, it goes through who is present first. You protect before you explain, and you remember everything.
Where you think big
You grow by welcoming. A full table, an open house, someone to protect: that is where you feel rich.
Jupiter is in exaltation in this sign. Your generosity sometimes looks after everyone except you.
Why?
What you take for granted, and the ground where you let yourself overreach. In Cancer, it goes through who is present first. You protect before you explain, and you remember everything. Received as a guest of honour: amplified, sometimes past reason. A strength to dose, not to prove.
Where you hold firm
You hold firm in what hurts. You control what touches you, and you confide nothing easily.
The brightest star of the constellation is Antares: the rival of Mars. Mars rules this sign in the old astrology, Pluto in the new.
You come out of trials with a strength few people see.
Why?
What you take seriously, and where you hold yourself to a line. In Scorpio, it plays out fully and in private. You watch for a long time before committing, then you do not let go. Retrograde at your birth: seen from Earth, the planet was moving backwards. What it governs turns inward first, and shows later than it does in other people.
What dominates
You feel before you understand, and your memory files moments by what they did to you, not by their dates. Water's known flip side: absorbing moods that are not yours.

What’s missing without the time
The rising sign, the houses and the exact degree of each planet depend on the time and place: the rising sign changes about every two hours. Add them in the calculator, or find your full chart in the app.
