The sky
on 29 December 2018.
The sign of each planet that day, calculated from astronomical ephemerides (Paris time). When a planet changes sign during the day, the exact time is given: that’s where the birth time decides.
If this is your birth date
What you are trying to become
You aim far, and you demand a lot of yourself. What you make, you want still standing in ten years. Credit, you give yourself late.
Capricorn begins at the December solstice, the day the Sun turns back. Its symbol is a sea goat: half mountain, half ocean. Saturn rules it.
People think you feel nothing. You have simply already planned next year.
Why?
What you are trying to become, and what you need to be recognised for. In Capricorn, it gets built and proven. You aim far, demand a lot of yourself, and give yourself credit late.
What settles you
You only really settle when everything is fine around you. A tension in the next room, and you feel it before you hear a word. So you smooth things over, you rephrase, you suggest.
Libra is the only sign of the zodiac that isn’t a living thing: it is an instrument. It weighs, and it stops only when both pans are level.
And then one evening someone asks what you wanted, you. You search for a long time.
Why?
What settles you and what puts you on alert, before any conscious decision. In Libra, it is measured against the other person. You adjust to whoever is across from you, until your own position blurs.
What people see first
It takes your birth time and city.
Why?
The first thing people register about you, before they know you.
What draws you
What draws you has a secret. Lightness bores you fast: you need someone who holds your gaze and does not lie.
The brightest star of the constellation is Antares: the rival of Mars. Mars rules this sign in the old astrology, Pluto in the new.
Venus is in detriment in this sign. You give all or nothing, and you do not forget who betrayed you.
Why?
What draws you in and what you offer — in love as in taste. In Scorpio, it plays out fully and in private. You watch for a long time before committing, then you do not let go. Opposite its home: adverse ground. What it governs takes deliberate effort — and is worth working for exactly that reason.
What gets you moving
You move without a straight line. You go around, you wait for it to pass, you sense where it will give. Direct confrontation costs you.
Pisces closes the zodiac. Two fish swim in opposite directions, tied by a cord. The star that makes the knot is called Alrescha: “the cord”, in Arabic.
Your strength comes in waves: nothing for days, then everything in one night.
Why?
What you go after, and how you fight when you meet resistance. In Pisces, it happens by absorption. You take on the mood of a room without choosing to, and sometimes mistake it for your own.
How you think
You think wide. You see the general meaning before the details, and you prefer a big idea to a small proof.
The centre of our galaxy lies in the direction of Sagittarius: look toward the archer, and you are looking at the heart of the Milky Way. Jupiter, the largest planet, rules this sign.
Mercury is in detriment in this sign: you say what you believe before you have checked.
Why?
How you think and speak — the pace, the level of detail, what you keep to yourself. In Sagittarius, it needs a horizon. You take badly to having your ground narrowed, and you leave rather than negotiate. Opposite its home: adverse ground. What it governs takes deliberate effort — and is worth working for exactly that reason.
Where you think big
You grow by leaving. A country, a language, a big idea: you need air and meaning.
Jupiter rules this sign. Your faith carries you far, and sometimes excuses you from checking.
Why?
What you take for granted, and the ground where you let yourself overreach. In Sagittarius, it needs a horizon. You take badly to having your ground narrowed, and you leave rather than negotiate. At home. What it governs runs without resistance — the ground where you do not have to force anything.
Where you hold firm
You know what lasting means. You aim high, you move slowly, and you carry more than your share.
Saturn rules this sign. Rest, for you, has to be learned too.
Why?
What you take seriously, and where you hold yourself to a line. In Capricorn, it gets built and proven. You aim far, demand a lot of yourself, and give yourself credit late. At home. What it governs runs without resistance — the ground where you do not have to force anything.
