Glossary · The moving sky
Retrograde motion
What it changes
What it governs gets replayed rather than launched. A good time to revisit, a bad one to sign without re-reading.
What it is
Seen from Earth, the planet appears to move backwards. It has not changed direction: we are overtaking it on our orbit, like passing a train.
The direct station
The planet resumes its normal apparent motion.
What has been dragging since the previous station becomes doable again.
